Quite an impressive post you made there. It also shows why a lot of people are for Bush. Me, as a guy who doesn't like the American policy, will tell you what you CAN do about it.
You can never say that you "can never do anything about something". Why do you think that the age of people having their first time is way higher over here then in the US? Over here it's regular to have your first time at 16 years and 4 months. In the world it's 17 years and 6 months (or something).
How come is it that in the US the age is way lower?
I can tell ya.
you guys make sex look as something bad
Only talking about it on tv makes the US censure it. Porn on regular tv is out of your mind. Every time they show a nipple, even when it's on a painting or a statue, it must be cencured. Getting real classes in it is strange. I had an exchange student on my school where I was friends with, who was really surprised to see that if you wanted, you can buy porn in a normal supermarket, that you can watch (soft) porn on normal tv after 10 - 11 pm. I had 3 times a class in sex. In the 6th grade, in the 7th grade and in the 9th grade. Where you can talk rather openly about it and make it as a normal discussion. I also had sex education by my parents, that you always have to use a condom and where you can use it for. That was at the age of 8 or something, at least at the time when I was still laughing at the idea of sex. At the age of 12 my mother even told me that I could have sex if I wanted, but not with just a "whore-type" I just met in a bar. That I have to look out for diseases and that the first time should be special. That both parties should want it (if not, the sex wouldn't be as good as it should be) and that you have to be thrusted with each other.
Now, I talk really open about it and thinking about my decissions on sex. Of course I knew about porn when I were 7, of course when I was in 5th grade at slumber parties we secretly watched porn with friends and talked and joked about it. Does that make us bad? NO!
That's normal, since you'll learn to think about sexual decissions you make. You'll learn that it has to be fun for both parties, that you have to use birth control once you do it, and that you can't do it with everybody. You'll think at an early age about sex, and what to do when you're really wanting to do it and when you're ready.
Sex is about love, not about being tough. And I have learned that siince I were 7...
Don't you think that if you censure everything on the tv and if you hardly talk about it makes you REALLY wonder what it's like? If something's forbidden, don't you feel the urge to really DO it?? If somebody tells you from when you're a kid that you NEVER have to smoke, because it's bad, you'll get curious and sneek out to smoke. If people say that drugs is bad, all drugs, you'll use marihuama earlier then when they say it's ok to try. And if you know marihuana (soft drugs), you'll continue to coke and heroin (hard drugs).
Big deal that we legalised soft drugs. At least we learn what it does to you, and what hard drugs does to you. Big deal if people want pot, as long as they don't do it too often and don't step to hard drugs. I've seen that happening with a friend and really, it's not pretty.
Back to the sex part: just like in drugs, if somebody wants to hide everything about sex, don't you just feel the urge just to do it? To try out what it's like??
And then Bush comes with his rule that gay marriages aren't allowed... why? Why does he want you to think that being gay is a bad thing? I'm open in people being gay, it's the person who they are, not the persons who they fall in love with. If you say that gays are bad, it's something what's inside of them, it's not a disease. Just like saying that handicapted persons should be killed... It's the same thing... you can't do that!! Gays already have a problem coming out for that they do love somebody of their own gender, because they are "different". If even the president says it's bad to be gay, how can they ever live with theirselves?
THAT's the biggest problem I have with the US. That you guys (at least the politics) try to hide stuff from the people. That they make wrong and pure normal things illegal to know.
If you have to find out about sex in your puberty, you'll do it earlier. When you learn about it when you're still a child, you'll know everything about it and the value on it. It's no bad thing, so why all the censuring?
...
that was one loooooooong post, I hope you want to read it, but it really explains my view on stuff in the US.
